Terms of Service

Plain-English rules for using releasepls. By signing in or installing the GitHub App you agree to these.

What releasepls does

releasepls reads merged pull requests from the GitHub repositories you grant access to, drafts customer-readable release notes using AI, and publishes them to your branded changelog page, your subscribers, and your in-app widget when you (or your label rules) say so.

Your account

You're responsible for the security of your GitHub account and the installation tokens we hold on your behalf. Don't install the GitHub App on repos you aren't authorized to.

Acceptable use

  • Don't use releasepls to spam, phish, or harass.
  • Don't use the embed widget or subscriber emails to send marketing material unrelated to the project's changelog.
  • Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
  • Don't publish content that violates law in your jurisdiction.

We may suspend accounts that repeatedly trip these rules. We'll email you before doing so when possible.

AI-generated content

Drafts are AI-generated from your PR content. The model can misread an unusual diff, miss a breaking change, or invent context. Treat every draft as a strong first draft — review before publishing. You're responsible for what you publish.

Pricing & billing

The free tier is free forever within its limits. Paid plans bill monthly through Lemon Squeezy. You can cancel any time from the billing page — your subscription ends at the end of the current period. We don't pro-rate refunds.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee it. Scheduled maintenance and external dependencies (GitHub, Anthropic, Resend, Crunchy Bridge) can affect availability. No SLA on the free tier.

Warranty disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, releasepls and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless releasepls from any claim, demand, or damages arising from your use of the service, your changelog content, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms or are inactive for an extended period. On termination we'll purge your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the service is the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

If you reside in a jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection law overrides this clause, the mandatory protections of that law apply.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we make a material change we'll email you and note the change here. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
